Before i decided what my college magazine would be about i planned out a rough idea of what i wanted it to look like by doing a basic sketch of something i'd assume it to look like. I then sent out a questionnaire for more information on what sort of things some students would like to see in a college magazine. The choices that came up quite a lot in my questionnaire were reviews and information on bands, so i chose to have reviews for films and music. The audience also said they'd like to have a type of 'serious but not too serious' feel to a college magazine, so i decided i wouldn't add too many jokes and keep it more based on information rather than humour.
We then had to plan for what the magazine would look like, I chose to call my magazine 'SHOUT!' as I wanted to express the seriousness of the magazine about the information and what it had to offer, but also have a hint of informality. I decided that i'd have some cells lines to show the readers what would be in the magazine and I took a photo of some college students, a boy and a girl, to express that it's for both genders. I also decided to have the photo taken outside a college to show the readers that this is aimed at college students and will inform them on what they need to know and also want to know about college life.
